What identifies you?

We had a visitor this morning.....in his jacket he had a crow bar, a glass cutter, and pliers.  He was wearing all black and had on gloves.  His jacket collar was turned up and he was even wearing sunglasses so it was hard to see his eyes.  A robber?......

No, it was Brother Richard.  We identified him as a robber because of what he was wearing.   He asked us, "As a Christian, what does your hair, your clothes, and your personality identify you as?"

Rocket Launcher Competition Prep

Our Monday Fun Science Experiment today was a homemade rocket launcher.  A little PVC Pipe, a 2-liter bottle and you are in business!  Today, we launched a bit of a lame rocket that Miss Leonard had made with a pop bottle lid, paper, and duct tape....but everyone had great ideas of how to make it better.  SO, the assignment for next week: make a rocket of your own.  The students can work in groups or as individuals.  Next Monday, we will have a contest to see whose rocket goes the furthest....and try to figure out why!

Joey got to stomp the first rocket.  It went the furthest--in the picture it is the little dot in the clouds over the church (it really didn't go as far as it looks!)
Here we are talking about what makes a good rocket and what would have made this go further.

Heading out to grab the rocket before it even hits the ground.

Our last shot with a wet, soggy rocket straight up into the air.  It had to be our last, because a two-footed jump burst our bottle!  Until next time....

Casual Day Color Teams

For Casual Day this time, the students chose colors to represent their teams.  They dressed up in the color, made signs, decorated, made hair bands, etc.  It was a great day for team spirit!  Here you see the Scorpions in black.  According to them, Black is dangerous and goes with everything!

The Spring Flings chose pink.  They covered their desks with pink, made name tags, constructed pink paper origami bows, etc.  Good times.

The 3 Peas in a Pod chose the "non-color" white.  They also had signs and creatively made tissue hair flowers.

Go Team Blue.  When we took into consideration clothing and team spirit, this team came out on top--First place to the Mighty Monkeys!  They even had crepe paper streamers, blue duct tape, and as you can see, they also had some pretty fearful false mustaches and paper folded hats.  Don't ask me how they managed to keep up with all this and their school work!

Good job to all the teams! What a fun day!

Spring in the Park--Sand Volleyball

Well, you can see the rain clouds moving in, and we felt a few sprinkles....but we took advantage of the sun today and went to the park for PE.  The students enjoyed some free time, and then we played a game of "beach" volleyball (with a jump rope for a "net").
Good Serve, Gabe!

Back over the net!

Bethany serves the ball.

I think the cry on this one was...."NOT mine!"

Jack sizing up to hit the ball and helping his team to win.

Only one complaint was heard today......"We didn't have time to play soccer!"  I guess we will have to save that for next time!
